Hosting provider, Hivelocity, announced this week it will be offering its customers free Windows Server Web and Standard Editions for 6 months on every new Cloud VM and Dedicated Server hosting solution they sell.   This promotion enables Hivelocity customers to purchase a Windows Dedicated Server or Cloud VM for as little as $59 per month.  Additionally, each Windows VM and Dedicated Server Hivelocity puts online will include Microsoft’s free WebMatrix development tool.   Hivelocity customers can also apply for Microsoft’s Website Spark program which allows qualifying Hivelocity customers to receive an additional three year license to the Windows Server Operating System free of charge.

“Hivelocity has always had a great relationship with Microsoft and we have had a lot of luck selling their products over the years.  We’re very excited to allow our customers to experience the benefits of Windows and Web Matrix for the same price as a Linux server.  The savings our customers will achieve each month, coupled with the free software bundle, is simply an outstanding offer and opportunity.  Microsoft has made it incredibly simple to access the software most of our customers need and use every day,” says Hivelocity GM Steve Eschweiler.

WebMatrix is the perfect solution to bundle with a web server due to the simplicity in which it enables developers to design and publish web sites.

“WebMatrix includes everything you need to create, customize, and publish websites.  Whether starting from open source web applications, built-in web templates or writing code from scratch, with this all-inclusive, free tool, developing web sites has never been easier, we are excited to see Hivelocity bring the benefits of Windows Web Servers to new audiences.”” said Gavriella Schuster, general manager, U.S. Server Marketing & Operations, Microsoft Corp.

Once WebMatrix is installed on a Windows server, it is simple to get and install the latest version of your favorite free web applications such as WordPressJoomla!,DotNetNuke, Orchard and much much more. Once you’re up and running, WebMatrix provides all the tools and features needed in a single unified interface. Say good-bye to switching between multiple applications just to perform common web development tasks. With WebMatrix, you’re always just a click away from easily editing your files, managing your database and modifying your server settings.
