Migration Questions

The move was initiated after the acquisition of Heficed in 2023. Since then, we have been strategically upgrading our infrastructure in stages to ensure a seamless and efficient transition of all Heficed systems into Hivelocity infrastructure.

We aim to empower Heficed users by providing access to the Hivelocity platform, unlocking a host of benefits tailored for them. Here’s what you gain:

  • Experience the Hivelocity Network at its best: Benefit from our advanced network featuring redundant connections and a robust state-of-the-art infrastructure built to the highest industry standards.

  • Resilient Company Platform: Enjoy free DNS management, seamlessly network your VMs with Bare Metal, leverage REST API for flexibility, opt for Managed services when choosing a Bare Metal option, and more. We are committed to enhancing your experience.

We understand how important it is to minimize disruptions, and we are working to ensure a smooth migration process with minimal downtime. If there is any planned downtime, we will communicate it well in advance. We appreciate your understanding during this transition.

As we embark on our scheduled migration to enhance our services, we prioritize the swift restoration of all functionalities. However, we strongly recommend that you take proactive measures to secure your critical data and configurations. Safeguarding the security and integrity of your data is our top priority. To add an extra layer of precaution during this migration period, we advise implementing a comprehensive backup plan. Having a backup strategy in place will ensure that your data remains protected throughout the transition.

No, your current hardware-allocated resources for each Virtual Machine (VM) will not change. We understand the importance of continuity and want to assure you that all the services you currently enjoy will stay consistent. What will change is the default amount of bandwidth allocation. Each VM will be awarded 10 Terabytes of Data transfer each month. Any additional data transfer will be on a per VM basis.

We are currently working on migrating all of our sites, the final phase of this process involves migrating the virtual machines (VMs). The cities of Los Angeles, London, and Frankfurt are expected to be completed in the first quarter of the year, with the remaining sites to be completed by the end of the year. Our ultimate goal is to complete the entire migration process, including VMs, by the end of 2024.

Billing Questions

No, pricing for your virtual machine services will remain unchanged after the migration to the new infrastructure. The commitment is to provide continuity in pricing to ensure a transparent and stable environment for all users.

As part of our PCI compliance measures to protect you and your assets, we do not store your credit card information in the Heficed portal. To maintain the service of migrated VMs, you need to log in to the MyVelocity portal and re-add your billing method. We understand that not everyone will be able to log in immediately, so we will be flexible with the first billing period and contact you to help you add your billing method. VMs that have not yet been migrated will continue to be billed within the Heficed Portal.

We understand how important it is to minimize disruptions, and we are working to ensure a smooth migration process with minimal downtime. If there is any planned downtime, we will communicate it well in advance. We appreciate your understanding during this transition.

If you did not receive or have lost your MyVelocity login information, you can have it re-sent to your email. Go to the MyVelocity portal, and under the Log In button, select the option Forgot Password. Enter your Hivelocity account email and click the Send Reset Password Email button to send a password reset request to your inbox. Everyone who has been migrated will be automatically enrolled in MyVelocity.

Ensure that your billing information is up-to-date in MyVelocity. Failure to do so may result in the risk of disconnection for nonpayment. You will still need to continue to manage billing in the Heficed system until the migration is complete and all sites are migrated.

To update billing log into MyVelocity and establish your payment method. It is essential to provide accurate and up-to-date billing details to avoid any issues or potential service termination.

Failure to update your billing information may lead to problems, including service termination due to non-payment. It is crucial to establish and maintain accurate billing details to ensure uninterrupted service.

No, once all sites are migrated into MyVelocity (expected later in 2024), you will no longer need to log in to both systems. At that point, billing and management will be consolidated within MyVelocity to simplify the user experience.

Scaling Questions

No, scaling is not supported at any stage of the migration process.

The decision to disallow scaling during migration is intentional and is in place to ensure a smooth and stable transition from the Heficed legacy system to Hivelocity. This approach prioritizes data integrity, minimizes potential disruptions, and streamlines the migration process for all users.

No, scaling is strictly not supported during the migration process or afterward. If you require additional resources or wish to scale your virtual machine, you will need to purchase a new VM and perform a separate migration. You can view our plans at .

No, there are no exceptions. Scaling is not supported during any phase of the migration process.

If you require additional resources, you will need to purchase a new Hivelocity virtual machine with the desired specifications and migrate your data to this new instance. You can view our plans at .

Support Questions

Once you’re all set up with MyVelocity, you’ll have easy access to support for your virtual machines (VMs). Any VMs that have been migrated will be covered by support in MyVelocity. If you happen to have VMs at other Heficed locations, don’t worry – support for those VMs will stick around in their current location until they’re all safely migrated.

Once registered with MyVelocity, you can conveniently view and manage all your support tickets within the platform. The centralized support system allows you to work with our support team on any issues related to your VMs, regardless of their migration status.

No, please note that legacy support tickets will not be migrated to the new system. If you have ongoing or unresolved support matters in the legacy system, it is advisable to address them before the migration process or open a new ticket in MyVelocity to address the issue there.

Yes, our support services will be available throughout the entire migration process. Whether you are dealing with VMs on the legacy system or the new infrastructure, our support team is ready to assist you with any issues you may encounter.

Yes, snapshots will be available once the VM migration is completed. You can continue to utilize and manage your snapshots as usual. Heficed DNS Server Migration

All DNS records will be copied over from Legacy Heficed DNS Servers to Hivelocity DNS Servers. You will need to update your Name Server records at your registrar to ns3.hivelocity.net (192.124.119.2) and ns4.hivelocity.net (192.124.119.3). Before you update your records check MyVelocity here for the correct DNS Records. We are performing a single synchronization at the time of migration. If you make any modifications to your records in the legacy portal, you will need to duplicate those records into the MyVelocity portal.

Heficed DNS Servers are hosted on a Legacy platform and use Legacy DNS Servers. Hivelocity’s Nameservers are also globally distributed across multiple continents.

No. Your DNS records will be copied over but you will have to update your Name Servers at your registrar.

Yes once you change your Name Servers you can add new DNS Records as needed in the MyVelocity Portal.

Once you register your account in MyVelocity, you can add domain names in the portal and point them to our name servers, ns3.hivelocity.net and ns4.hivelocity.net.

The DNS servers will continue to function for a short period. After migrating all accounts, we’ll start the process of shutting them down. We’ll confirm that all zones have updated NS records directing to our IP addresses or DNS servers. If any are found not to be updated, we’ll contact you individually after completing all account migrations. The plan is to phase out the current IP Addresses associated with ns8.heficed.com (102.165.7.58) and ns9.heficed.com (179.61.195.24). It is imperative that you update your DNS records to point to the updated DNS (IP Scheme) as soon as possible.

Legacy Heficed DNS Servers were only in a few select locations and Hivelocity DNS Servers are located at almost all of our available locations. Using Hivelocity Anycast DNS Nameservers will allow for improved performance, enhanced reliability, and reduced latency.

No. They will stay active until Heficed DNS Servers are shut down. Once you migrate them you can always delete the zones to ensure that you’ve confirmed all has been migrated. We will not however delete any until we’ve verified that all have been migrated.
